He calls out to Hadjiavatis and asks him to declare to all citizens, that the tree, in the town square, has become haunted, and that no one is allowed to pass below it.Hadjiavatis, in turn, ask Karagkiozis, his closest friend, to help him announce this alarming news. Velingekas, having walked under the tree, is transformed into a dog. Dionysios is transformed into a peacock. Stavrakas becomes a serpent, and even Karagkiozis becomes a donkey. Hadjiavatis becomes a ram. Finally, Barba Georghis, the mountain-shepherd, transforms into a camel. They are finally restored to their normal selves, thanks to Karagkiozis. He announced the bad Spirit who has haunted the tree, that he is very happy to be "so" free to eat and make love whenever he wishes to. The bad Spirit becomes jealous of the "donkey" and transforms him back to Karagkiozis. Life returns to normal in the town, and people walk freely under the once "Eerie" tree.
